“Anything Orange” Potluck & White Elephant Bingo

On Sunday, April 29th our church family enjoyed an “Anything Orange” potluck following our Sunday worship service and Sunday school. Our monthly potluck fellowship meal had a facelift with everyone stepping up to the challenge of bringing food that was orange. Selections included spaghetti, cheese curls, salmon, orange jello salad, canteloupe, orange slices, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pin, cupcakes with orange icing and more deliciousness than can be named here.

Immediately following the potluck we had a rousing game of “White Elephant Bingo”. Each participant brought something reusable that they had at home to be included on the prize table. When someone got Bingo, they went up to the table and selected a prize and took it back to their seat. When someone else got Bingo, they could either take a prize from the prize table or take something that someone else had already selected. Once a prize had been stolen twice then it was considered “frozen” and could not be taken any longer. All ages participated and everyone had a great time. We are all looking forward to the next time we can play “White Elephant Bingo” together.

5th Annual Kids’ Spring Camp-In

The 5th Annual Kids’ Spring Camp-In was held on April 20-21, 2012. The theme of the Camp-In was “Living Water”. Nineteen children, 1st-5th grade, attended and learned through activities, crafts and input from Camp-In director, Pam Fahndrich, that “Jesus gives us Living Water.” The kids enjoyed the lively group games, a campfire outside in the church parking lot, decorating water bottles and making snow globes, eating delicious food and staying up really late. Special thanks to all the youth and adult volunteers that made the Camp-In possible.

All Church Bible Quiz

An “All Church Bible Quiz” was held on Sunday, February 26th after the monthly potluck fellowship meal. All ages were encouraged to participate. Everyone was divided into four inter-generational teams and each team had a designated color of bandana for each of it’s members to wear. Each of the teams was also given fun name. Random Bible questions were asked and the first team to respond with the correct answer got a point. It was an enjoyable time for all and each person learned a little something as well. The plan is to have an “All Church Bible Quiz” once per quarter as part of Family Ministries. Stay tuned for more details on the next one.

“Wheel In” Family Ministry Night

Recently, everyone ages 1 through 100, was invited to bring their wheels…bikes, trikes, roller-blades, skateboards, scooters, motorcycles…and even office chairs…to test their “skills on wheels.” There were two obstacles courses and participants were timed at how fast they could complete the course. Those with the top three fastest times had a run off to determine the champion. The event was fun for all who participated whether they had wheels or whether they were a spectator. Afterwards, we were introduced to the the Ministry Commission and were given the opportunity to volunteer and/or select the activities we would like to participate in for the coming year.
