“Get ‘er Done!”
A Tribute to my Beloved Pastor Rick
11/4/2018, Andrea Lind
“Get ‘er done” he said
And he said what he meant
And he meant what he said
And he did as God led.
“Get ‘er done” he said
And he went where help was needed
And through his words with action
God’s love and Good News was spread.
“Get ‘er done” he said
Joyfully baptizing believers
Tirelessly visiting the hurt, sick and frail
Happily marrying those ready to wed.
“Get ‘er done” he said
And he said what he meant
And he meant what he said
And he did as God led.
“Get ‘er done” he said
Though a pastor’s work is never done
He carried on; from hard work
and conflict he never fled.
“Get ‘er done” he said
Whether the Hopi or Ethiopia
From McDonald’s to Mexico
His touch was widespread.
“Get ‘er done” he said
And he said what he meant
And he meant what he said
And he did as God led.
“Get ‘er done” he said
Then, suddenly, without warning
Gone – Pastor Rick is dead.
Many hearts stunned in sorrow
Many tears have been shed.
“Get ‘er done” he had said.
We’ll never hear him say it again.
But we can remember
That mantra in his stead.
“Get ‘er done” he had said.
And he said what he meant
And he meant what he said
And he did as God led.
“Get ‘er done” he had said.
Those 3 little words should
Inspire and guide us
In the days, months and journeys ahead.
“Get ‘er done” he had said
And, welcomed into the eternal kingdom
A faithful son and servant,
Following the footsteps his Savior had tread.
By reaching out to ALL people
No matter time, place or life station
He knew it was for all that Christ had bled.
“Get ‘er done” he had said
And he said what he meant
And he meant what he said
And he did as God led.
And God welcomed him home
With a smile barely hid
saying “Get ‘er done, Rick,
Yup, that you sure did!”
